Ben DeJesus is a New York based filmmaker best known for co-producing Tales from a Ghetto Klown alongside Oscar® winning producer Fisher Stevens. The film was an award-winning PBS documentary about John Leguizamo.

DeJesus’s latest production, Latin History for Morons: John Leguizamo’s Road to Broadway, is a documentary film about the creation of John Leguizamo’s one-man Broadway show. To support his open call for aspiring actors to be featured in the film documentary, DeJesus has partnered with the social media entertainment app Clapit, where emerging actors can be discovered via an innovative, community-driven audition process from their mobile devices.

The winners of DeJesus’s open call on Clapit will be flown to New York to see Leguizamo’s Broadway show. They will also get to meet Leguizamo, and DeJesus will film the meeting to be featured in his documentary.

Actors can apply by uploading a twenty-second video audition to Clapit, showcasing their acting talent in accordance with the character breakdowns posted on the app. The most clapped audition videos, ranked by the Clapit community, will be showcased on Clapit’s “Best” feed. DeJesus will select one male winner from the top five most clapped male auditions and one female winner from the top five most clapped female auditions – a democratic crowd-sourced voting system to provide two actors with their first big breaks.

Entrants download Clapit for free from the iTunes App Store, shoot and upload their videos, hashtag their entries #bendejesus, and then spread the word by asking friends to download Clapit and “clap” (vote) for them. All entries are subject to eligibility requirements and the official contest rule. The open call wraps on November 24, 2017 at 11:59 P.M. EST.

Alex D’Lerma is best known for his work as writer and director on the feature film Fear, Love and Agoraphobia, starring Lori Petty and Linda Burzynski. The film has won a total of 17 film festival awards to date and is scheduled to compete in the 2017 Santa Cruz and Ojai film festivals.

D’Lerma has continuously worked as a director, actor, screenwriter and editor in film, TV, theater and radio for more than two decades. He has trained numerous actors and directors over the past ten years at his Cinema Gym “On Camera” workshops at University of California, Los Angeles.

“Mortal Coil”, D’Lerma’s latest project, is a film about a man named Ash who is in a coma. Though Ash’s body is in a hospital room, his life energy is in a limbo-type dimension. He is able to watch his loved ones visit his body, yet he is not able to communicate with them or have contact in any way. Ash is tortured by not being with them and is unwilling to let his spirit move on to the next stage of the afterlife.

NEW YORK – Aug. 24, 2017 – PRLog — In conjunction with the production release of his next film, Producer Russ Emanuel announced today a nationwide open call for actors to submit auditions for one male and one female speaking role via the social media app Clapit. The film, “Lighter Than Air,” will be shot in Los Angeles in October. All auditions must be submitted through Clapit in accordance with Clapit’s competition rules, terms and guidelines.

Originally from San Francisco, Emanuel grew up in Japan and the United States, garnering an international viewpoint of the world throughout his childhood. After graduating from the University of Southern California with degrees in Cinema-Television, International Relations and Japanese, (and after gaining further production experience at the UCLA Extension Program), he founded Russem Productions in 2002 in order to promote his short films, which include “Her Knight” (2003), the award-winning “Girl With Gun” (2006), “The Assassin’s Apprentice” (2017) starring Robert Picardo and Marina Sirtis, and the documentary “Restoration of Paradise” (2014). He also produced several shorts including “Mavet” (2004), the zombie-flick “The Diary” (2004), the vampire film “Perfect Red” (2006), as well as two popular web series – “Cult 11”(2010) and “The Meeting” (2013), for which he also directed two episodes each.

Emanuel’s latest feature film, “Occupants” (2015), was released by ITN Distribution in the fall of 2016. It was the winner of the Best Sci-Fi Feature Film Award at Shriekfest and an Official Selection at the San Diego Comicon. “Occupants” was highlighted in the Huffington Post, and it marked Emanuel’s fourth foray into feature filmmaking after having directed “P.J.” (2007), starring actors John Heard, Vincent Pastore, Robert Picardo, Glynnis O’Connor, Halie Kate Eisenberg and Patricia Rae; “Chasing the Green” (2009), starring actors Ryan Hurst, William Devane, Jeremy London, Heather McComb, Robert Picardo, Dan Grimaldi, Michael Masini, Larry Pine and Patricia Rae, which was the winner of the Director’s Choice Gold Award at the Park City Film Music; and “The Legends of Nethiah” (2012), starring Robert Picardo and Theresa Russell.  Emanuel recently finished directing an action thriller, “Wisper,” produced with award-winning writer-producer Howard Nash, and featuring three actors from Clapit open call auditions.

NEW YORK – Aug. 11, 2017 – PRLog — To celebrate the upcoming release of the new single “Silent Warnings,” Satellite Sky has invited Hollywood actress Natasha Bassett to direct their new music video. As director, Natasha Bassett announced Wednesday, August 9th, a nationwide open call for actresses to submit auditions via the social media app Clapit, for a chance to win the lead female part in a music video to be filmed in or about September 2017. All auditions must be submitted via the social media app Clapit in accordance with Clapit’s competition rules and guidelines.

Natasha Bassett, born in Sydney, New South Wales, is a Hollywood actress who began her prolific career in Australia when she landed the lead role in the Australian Theatre for Young People’s production of “Romeo and Juliet.” She moved on to study, write, and perform at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and performed under the artistic direction of Cate Blanchett in Sydney Theatre Company’s stage production of “Bookends.” Thereafter, Natasha landed the lead in the MTV film, “Dungoona” (2009), and appeared on several Australian television series (“Rake” (2010), “Wild Boys” (2011), “Cops LAC” (2010)), while attending classes. After graduating high school, she appeared in P.J. Hogan’s film, “Mental” (2012), alongside Toni Collette and Liev Schreiber, and traveled to Paris to play the lead in the feature, “The Last Goodbye” (2013).

 At 19, she was awarded a screenwriting scholarship from the ArtStart Screenwriters Program, where she wrote and directed her short film, “Kite” (2013). The acclaimed short was featured in the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Balinale International Film Festival, and the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.

Natasha moved to New York City, studied at the Atlantic Acting School, and relocated to Los Angeles for the NBC series, “Camp.” She made her debut in Coen Bros’ “Hail, Caesar!” with George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum.  She can next be seen alongside Olivia Cooke and Mary Steenburgen in Wayne Roberts’ indie drama, “Katie Says Goodbye,” as well as the independent thriller, “House By The Lake.”

Natasha most recently wrapped playing Britney Spears in Lifetime’s biopic, “Britney Ever After” and Simon Kaijser’s “Spinning Man” opposite Guy Pearce, Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver.
